Used in folk medicine to improve digestion, for colds and inflammation. Considered a plant of protection and health in some cultures.
Perennial herbaceous plant up to 1.5 meters tall with large pinnate leaves and umbrella-shaped inflorescences. Blooms in summer, prefers moist habitats — meadows, forest edges, riverbanks.
Harvest roots in autumn after the aerial parts die back. Collect flowering umbels in summer for medicinal use.
Dig roots carefully without damage. Collect flowers in dry weather to avoid rot.
Clean roots, wash and dry in a ventilated shady place at 30-40°C. Dry flowers separately, avoiding direct sunlight.
